State of Decay 3’s closed beta will begin on October 13, Undead Labs has announced, giving selected players an opportunity to try the upcoming zombie survival game ahead of its planned release. Interested players can register through the official playtest website and should watch their email for invitations.
State of Decay devs shared the update alongside details about new gameplay footage and a community screenshot competition. Players can sign up for the closed beta through the official State of Decay playtest website, although registration does not guarantee an invitation.
The developer has also released the first part of a lengthy gameplay session featuring Brian Menard. The video offers a look at the latest version of the game, alongside behind-the-scenes commentary from the development team. Players can watch it on YouTube.
Undead Labs has also hosted a screenshot competition, inviting community members to visit the relevant Discord channel and vote for their favorite entries among the finalists.
State of Decay 3 is being developed by Undead Labs using Unreal Engine 5 and is scheduled to launch in 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and PlayStation 5. The game is also planned to be available on Xbox Game Pass on its release day.
