Doki Doki Literature Club! is a freeware visual novel developed by Team Salvato, an American independent game studio, in 2017. It was initially released for Linux, macOS, and Windows via itch.io, later becoming available on Steam. The narrative follows a high school student who reluctantly joins the school’s literature club at the behest of their childhood best friend. The player can choose to pursue romantic relationships with three of the four female club members. Doki Doki Literature Club! features a unique plot structure, multiple endings, and unlockable cutscenes for the main characters. Despite its appearance as a lighthearted dating simulator, the game is a meta-fictional psychological horror experience that extensively breaks the fourth wall.

An expanded version, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!, was launched on June 30, 2021, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A macOS version followed on August 12, 2021. The Plus! version received generally positive reviews, praising its side stories and console gameplay, while facing some criticism for a lack of substantial changes. In contrast to the original freeware release, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! is a premium game.
