Fallout 76 is getting a new horror-themed experience called The Slasher on September 15, introducing a murderous group of fanatics to Appalachia and giving players a new series of activities to complete across the game’s Fall updates.
The Slasher will unfold gradually over several weeks, with players required to investigate clues, uncover unmarked graves and battle groups of Slasher fanatics scattered throughout the map. As more elements of the event become available, the threat will continue to escalate before eventually leading to a confrontation with the mysterious figure taking on the name of the Pint-Sized Slasher.
Players who make it through the final encounter will have the opportunity to obtain a unique Power Armor set and a new weapon called the Super Slasher. Bethesda describes The Slasher as a first-of-its-kind update for Fallout 76, with its various activities building on one another as the experience progresses.
The update will also introduce a Gen 9 upgrade for Fallout 76 across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and older consoles. The improvements are designed to provide better performance, stability and visual fidelity across all supported consoles. Bethesda says the upgrade will also allow the development team to optimise each platform individually in future updates.
Another major addition is unique weapon crafting. Players will be able to modify Legendary mods on more than 80 uniquely named weapons found throughout the Wasteland, giving them greater control over how these weapons are developed and used.
Fallout 76’s seasonal system is also being expanded with Legacy Seasons. Starting with Beware of the Blood Moon, players will be able to participate in both the current season and a previous season they may have missed.
