Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles Update 1.5.0 Adds New Game Plus and New Gameplay Options

Square Enix has released Update 1.5.0 for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, introducing several highly requested features and gameplay improvements. The headline addition is New Game Plus, allowing players to begin a fresh playthrough while carrying over key progression elements from a completed save.

The update also adds Zodiac Compatibility tracking, new gameplay settings, expanded language support, and multiple quality-of-life enhancements aimed at improving battle management, character progression visibility, and overall usability.

New Features

New Game Plus

  • Added New Game Plus.
  • Start a new playthrough while carrying over:
    • Unit levels
    • Item data
    • Additional completed save data progress

Zodiac Compatibility

  • Added the Zodiac Compatibility function.
  • View a unit’s zodiac sign and compatibility directly from the status screen.

Gameplay Adjustments

  • Players can now check the status of units while selecting movement tiles or targeting abilities.
  • Added a “Remove All Equipment” option to the Equipment & Abilities section of the unit status screen.
  • Job unlock requirements are now displayed more clearly for locked jobs within the Job section of the unit status screen.
  • Camera angle and zoom settings are now retained throughout the duration of a battle.

New Settings

Maintain Auto-proceed

  • Added the “Maintain Auto-proceed” setting.
  • Automatically preserves cutscene auto-proceed behavior.

Ability Incantations Guaranteed

  • Added the “Ability Incantations Guaranteed” setting.
  • Ensures dialogue associated with specific abilities always plays.

Ability Cursor Memory

  • Added the “Ability Cursor Memory” setting.
  • Retains cursor position within the Abilities menu during battles.

Language Support

  • Added text support for:
    • Simplified Chinese
    • Traditional Chinese
    • Korean
  • Added language selection through the “Text Language (Enhanced)” option.

Audio Improvements

  • Adjusted various sound effects.

Stability and Fixes

  • Improved overall game stability.
  • Made minor text revisions across all supported languages.
  • Resolved various minor issues.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles launched on September 30, 2025, and is available on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
