Square Enix has confirmed plans for two story expansions for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, giving players a look at what will follow the game’s launch on April 8, 2027. The Story Expansion Pass will include two story-focused DLCs, with the Japanese Square Enix website indicating that they are scheduled to release sequentially between around winter 2027 and spring 2028.
The two expansions are set to focus on Sephiroth and Vincent alongside the Turks. Square Enix has not yet provided detailed information about either DLC, but both are included in the Story Expansion Pass available with the Collector’s Edition and digital Premium Edition.
The Story Expansion Pass also includes the Reclaimant Choker accessory and a Survival Set containing useful in-game consumable items.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation Launches In April 2027
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC.
The game will conclude the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, with Cloud Strife and his companions travelling aboard the Highwind as they attempt to stop Meteor and prevent the destruction of the planet.
The new gameplay footage shown during PlayStation’s State of Play also revealed several new features. Players will be able to freely switch their active character and party composition while exploring the world, while a new grappling gun will allow them to reach rooftops and move through the environment more freely.
Cid and Vincent will also become playable characters, while the new FITS system introduces specialised roles including Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner.
Players will also be able to choose which party members undertake certain quests. These decisions can affect how particular events and scenarios unfold, giving players some control over their narrative experience.
Multiple Editions Include The DLC Pass
The Story Expansion Pass is included with the $349.99 physical Collector’s Edition and the $99.99 digital Premium Edition. The $109.99 Premium Plus Edition also includes the pass alongside a digital mini soundtrack, digital artbook and additional in-game items.
Players who purchase the $69.99 digital Standard Edition will not receive the Story Expansion Pass as part of the package.
Square Enix has not yet announced the individual release dates or detailed content for the two expansions. Based on the Japanese Square Enix listing, however, the DLC will be released sequentially after the game’s April 2027 launch, with the planned window extending from around winter 2027 through spring 2028.
