Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Versatility mode will be making a return in Final Fantasy VII Revelation to leverage PSSR and deliver a 4K/60fps experience on PS5 Pro.

According to details shared by Twitter/X user Genki_JPN from Tokyo Game Show 2026, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s PS5 Pro exclusive Versatility mode will be making a return in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and it will “prioritize maintaining a 60-fps framerate while displaying graphics at 4K resolution.” As was the case in the second entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, the mode leverages PSSR to deliver higher image quality via AI-upscaled 4K alongside a 60fps target.

Meanwhile, base PS5 players will have 3 display options i.e. Graphics, which prioritizes 4K resolution, Performance – Sharp, which targets 60fps with a sharper image, and Performance – Smooth, which targets 60fps with a softer image. These settings mirror the options previously offered in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

    • Versatility (PSSR 4K/60fps)

Much like prior entries, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will also feature an accessibility setting aimed at players who want to focus primarily on the story. In an interview with IGN Japan (via Genki_JPN), director Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the development team received feedback from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth players who skipped much of the side content and open-world exploration, only to find themselves under-leveled and struggling with the main story battles.

To address this, at a certain point in the game, players will be offered the option to automatically raise their characters to the recommended level. Hamaguchi said the intention is to provide players who prefer a linear, story-focused experience with something closer to the progression of Final Fantasy VII Remake, while still leaving the open-world content available for those who want to engage with it.
