A new Silent Hill Townfall PS5 vs PS5 Pro comparison examines the game’s resolution, frame rate and visual settings across both PlayStation consoles. While the PS5 Pro uses PSSR instead of TSR for image reconstruction, the two systems otherwise deliver broadly similar rendering resolutions and performance targets.
On PS5, Quality Mode runs at 30 FPS with an internal resolution of approximately 1440p before being upscaled to 4K using TSR. Performance Mode targets 60 FPS and uses TSR to upscale from approximately 1080p to 4K.
PS5 Pro Uses PSSR
The PS5 Pro versions maintain similar internal rendering resolutions and performance targets to the base PS5. The main difference in image reconstruction is the use of PSSR rather than TSR.
The PS5 Pro also provides higher-quality textures than the base PS5, with the improvement retained across both Quality and Performance modes. Shadows are also rendered at a higher quality on PS5 Pro, while the base PS5 reduces shadow quality in Performance Mode.
Reflections appear broadly similar between the consoles, although Quality Mode provides better reflections on both PS5 and PS5 Pro. Global illumination and lighting are also largely comparable, with only minor differences between the different modes.
Post-processing effects such as fog are reduced somewhat in Performance Mode, although the effect remains relatively limited and does not substantially alter the overall presentation.
Silent Hill Townfall Performance
Neither console maintains a completely stable frame rate in either mode. Both Quality and Performance modes can experience moments of stuttering, with similar issues also present in the PC version.
Silent Hill: Townfall is a first-person survival horror game developed by Screen Burn Interactive and co-published by Konami Digital Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive. It is scheduled to launch on September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The game is set in 1996 in the isolated Scottish town of St. Amelia. Players take control of Simon Ordell as he explores the fog-covered town, investigates his surroundings and uncovers connections to his past while facing hostile encounters.
