Flat2VR Studios is currently working on PSVR2 versions of select PS5 games, possibly including Annapurna Interactive and Angel Matrix’s first-person shooter and puzzle platformer, Neon White.
The official Twitter/X account for the developer was asked how long it would take for it to release a title for Sony’s virtual reality headset. In response, Flat2VR Studios stated that it is in fact in possession of a PSVR2 dev kit. The developer further mentioned that it also has the source code for some “cool” games, and that it’d better get to work on their VR ports.
The studio was then asked if it is able to mod PSVR2 support into existing titles much like it has done on PC. In response, Flat2VR Studios mentioned that it will be doing official ports rather than mods. It clarified that this initiative is the equivalent to, say, adding VR support to Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake, which Capcom handled internally. Flat2VR Studios, however, will be working with source code for externally developed titles in order to add VR support to them.
As pointed out by Reddit user TheeDesecrator, the studio had mentioned earlier that among the games that has source code for is one that went viral on PC and Nintendo Switch, and that a PSVR2 port for it may arrive as early as the end of 2024. This has led to speculation that Flat2VR Studios is likely working on a PSVR2 port of Annapurna Interactive and Angel Matrix’s first-person shooter and puzzle platformer, Neon White. One of the studio’s founders has already developed a PC mod for the game, suggesting that the the late 2024 arrival of a PSVR2 port is quite likely.
Neon White was initially released for Microsoft Windows and the Nintendo Switch on June 16, 2022. It was eventually made available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on December 13, 2022. The game is also in development for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
