Forza Horizon 6 is shaping up to be a sizable download, with the Xbox mobile app reportedly listing the game at 145GB on Xbox Series X and S and 157GB on PC. The figures have not been formally detailed by Microsoft, but the listing offers an early indication of the storage requirements players can expect at launch.
The reported file size marks a noticeable increase over Forza Horizon 5, which launched at around 108GB on Xbox. That title has since grown to approximately 148GB after multiple updates and expansions, meaning Forza Horizon 6 is already approaching that scale before post-launch content is factored in.
Developed by Playground Games with support from Turn 10 Studios, Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled to release on May 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X and S and PC, with a PlayStation 5 version planned for later in the year. The game is set in a fictionalized version of Japan and is described as featuring the largest map in the series so far.
The setting includes a detailed recreation of Tokyo, which is said to be significantly larger than previous urban environments in the franchise. Players take part in the Horizon Festival as tourists, progressing through events while exploring a range of environments that span dense city streets and mountainous regions. A dynamic seasonal weather system is also part of the experience, influencing driving conditions across the open world.
With file sizes continuing to climb, storage management may become a consideration for players preparing to install the next entry in the series.
