E3 2019 has just a few days left but we are already getting some major leaks including Elden Ring. It is for the recently rumored new IP by From Software which they are making in collaboration with George R.R. Martin.
Elden Ring is a new IP by From Software. It was rumored to be an open world game with multiple kingdoms. It was codenamed Project Rune while the final commercial name is Elden Ring and it will be published by Bandai Namco.
Elden Ring is the new IP by From Software. In addition to the leak showing a logo, there was a whole description for the game which has leaked revealing some information on what to expect from this upcoming game. George R.R. Martin had collaborated with a game developer in Japan as he revealed this information in a blog post after the end of Game of Thrones. It was widely speculated to be From Software.
It turns out that Elden Ring is the real deal and it has been described as their largest game to-date which doesn’t directly confirm the open world part of the rumor but hints at it. “Danger and discovery lurk around every corner in FromSoftware’s largest game to-date. Hidetaka Miyazaki, President and Game Director of FromSoftware Inc. known for directing critically-acclaimed games in beloved franchises including Armored Core, Dark Souls, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.”
The official description makes it sound like George R.R. Martin helped with the world building aspect for the game. “ELDEN RING, developed by FromSoftware, Inc. and BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., is a fantasy action-RPG adventure set within a world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki – creator of the influential DARK SOULS video game series; and George R.R. Martin – author of The New York Times best-selling fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire.”
Elden Ring is one of the three major announcements by Bandai Namco that has leaked ahead of the upcoming E3. The other two were a brand new entry in the Tales of series called Tales of Arise and a remastered version of Ni No Kuni 1.
