Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed that the recently released Ghost of Yōtei Legends Raid update marks the final major planned update for the game’s multiplayer mode.
The announcement was shared through a new PlayStation Blog interview featuring Lead Designer Darren Bridges, who discussed the development of the Raid mode and the studio’s approach to multiplayer endgame content.
According to Bridges, the Raid was designed as the conclusion to the story of the Yōtei Six within Legends mode. “The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends. It finishes the story of the Yōtei Six in that mode,” Bridges said.
The Raid launched last month and serves as the multiplayer mode’s endgame activity, tasking four-player teams with battling the final supernatural members of the Yōtei Six, including The Dragon and Lord Saito.
During the interview, Bridges explained that Sucker Punch aimed to improve accessibility compared to the Raid structure in Ghost of Tsushima Legends. The previous game’s Raid content was often criticized for lengthy completion times and heavy coordination requirements.
For Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the studio focused on more consistent pacing and implemented features that allow players to rejoin boss encounters directly if their session is interrupted.
The developer also detailed several gameplay systems and emergent mechanics discovered during testing, including hidden interactions where Shinobi players could temporarily stop bomb attacks by activating vanish abilities.
Bridges additionally spoke about the challenge of balancing hardcore cooperative gameplay with accessibility, noting that some teams completed the Raid far faster than the developers initially expected.
While no further major updates are currently planned for Ghost of Yōtei Legends, Sucker Punch stated that it has enjoyed watching the community continue engaging with the multiplayer experience since launch.
