The Complete Edition of CD Projekt’s 2015 action role-playing game, The Witcher 3, has quietly received a price hike on Steam soon after the announcement of the remastered version.
The timing of the price hike (via SteamDB) is rather interesting, particularly because CD Projekt Red recently revealed at Gamescom 2026’s Opening Night Live that a remastered version of The Witcher 3 is set for release next month on September 29, 2026. It is set to bring a range of improvements, including enhanced visuals and changes to the game’s combat and traversal.
While the announcement brought good news for existing players, new buyers now face a higher entry price. The Witcher 3 – Complete Edition is currently listed for 49.99 US Dollars on Steam, up from its previous 39.99 US Dollar price. Anyone purchasing the game will also receive the upcoming remastered version automatically, meaning that the price increase effectively puts the cost of the new edition at 49.99 US Dollars.
On the other hand, those who already own the game will receive the remastered version as a free upgrade, while those who don’t own its expansions will also gain access to the DLC included with the Complete Edition.
While this makes the upgrade a steal for the existing player base, new players will end up getting a somewhat rough end of the bargain. The price increase may sting for players who have been holding off on trying the game for over a decade. The Complete Edition includes both expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, along with the content-rich base game.
CD Projekt regularly discounts The Witcher 3 across all platforms, sometimes quite generously. The game could therefore return to a much lower price during a future seasonal sale or around the launch of its new DLC, Songs of the Past.
The Witcher 3 – Complete Edition is available across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows PC.
