God of War Ragnarok Update 1.01 Released, Download Size & Patch Notes

Update 1.01 for Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming God of War Ragnarok has been released, and the download size and patch notes have been revealed.

Details regarding what the God of War Ragnarok update version 1.01 does are limited, though it primarily improves the state of the game from the default version 1.00 that comes on disc. The update was rolled out very recently on October 10, 2022.

The download size of the update has also been revealed, and it weighs in at 18.3 GB. The game recently went gold, therefore this update will likely not be included in physical copies at launch. For those who pre-ordered a digital copy of God of War Ragnarok on PSN, the update should come pre-installed with the game.

As mentioned earlier, update 1.01 is mainly to address bugs and issues that continue to linger after God of War Ragnarok went gold. Other improvements may include performance gains, though that has yet to be confirmed.

Previously, it was revealed that God of War Ragnarok has been rated “Mature 17+” by the ESRB. The listing revealed that God of War Ragnarok has been rated as Mature (M) by the ESRB, which conforms to ages 17 and above. The description of the M rating states that the game will feature intense violence, blood and gore, and strong language.

As fans are already aware, players will make use of axes and chained blades to battle enemies, often resulting in large blood-splatter effects. The summary also states that the game features dismemberment during combat. According to the description, players will be able to perform finishing attacks that depict close-up impalement via bladed and hand-held weapons. Repeated axe strikes to a certain creature’s neck will result in decapitation.

Kratos’ is officially set to embark on his latest adventure alongside his son Atreus on November 9, 2022, for the PS4 and PS5. The pre-load as well as the review embargo date for the game have also been revealed.
