GTA 6 PS5 Firmware Requirement Reportedly Revealed

by Ali Haider

Grand Theft Auto VI reportedly requires PlayStation 5 system software version 14.10.00.00 or newer to run, according to information shared by the PlayStation backend tracker PlayStation Game Size.

The reported requirement indicates that GTA 6 will need a fairly recent version of the PS5 firmware when it launches. This requirement is also important for users who are running older versions of the PS5 system software. Currently, PS5 firmware versions up to 13.60 are linked to publicly known jailbreak support, which allows compatible consoles to run homebrew applications and perform other unofficial software modifications.

Because GTA 6 reportedly requires firmware 14.10.00.00, consoles remaining on older jailbreakable software cannot currently run or extract the game through the known methods. This could change if new developments allow the required firmware to be supported, but there is currently no confirmed method that would enable GTA 6 to run on those older versions.

The reported firmware requirement applies to the PlayStation 5 version of Grand Theft Auto VI. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
