Rockstar Games’ upcoming open world action-adventure game, GTA VI, will feature a 60 fps Performance mode, it is claimed.
During the latest episode of the Rock and Borys podcast, co-host Rock claimed that GTA VI is currently planned to launch with both a 30 fps Quality mode and a 60 fps Performance ,mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X. He mentioned getting this information form a “very credible” source close to Rockstar Games.
Rock explained that, based on what he’s been told, Rockstar Games has not yet finalized whether the 60 fps mode will be ready for launch on November 19, 2026. Development is reportedly proceeding under major time constraints, and there remains a possibility that the Performance mode may arrive via a post-launch update if it does not meet the studio’s standards in time for release.
“From the information I received, there are supposed to be two graphics modes: 30 and 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. On Series S, for now, it’s 30 fps,” said Rock. “They still aren’t 100% certain whether the 60 fps mode will be available at launch. There’s a possibility it could arrive in one of the later updates. They’re working on it, and from what I’ve heard it’s most likely going to be there on day one, but there’s a huge crunch.”
According to the same source, the Xbox Series S version of GTA VI will feature a single graphics mode that targets a frame rate of 30 fps. That said, Rock mentioned that Rockstar Games is currently working closely with a team from Microsoft in an effort to improve the situation.
Rock and Borys have proven to be reliable with their inside information in the past. They were the first to report that a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is in development, which we now know is called The Witcher 3 Songs of the Past.
