The release window for Team Cherry’s upcoming metroidvania game, Hollow Knight: Silksong, has been revealed, based on a new rumor.
In his latest video on YouTube, known insider and content creator eXtas1s has claimed that Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled for release in April, May, or June, 2025. As per him, the game will be released within Microsoft’s current fiscal year, which ends on June 30, 2025.

The insider talked about a recent post on the official Xbox website regarding ID@Xbox, and how it has helped developers of all sizes in finding more success. The post mentioned that, since the program was launched in 2013, more than 5 billion US Dollars have been paid to independent developers from all over the world.
Furthermore, the post highlighted a number of upcoming ID@Xbox games, including Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Descenders Next, FBC: Firebreak, and Hollow Knight: Silksong too. According to the insider, the sequence in which these titles are mentioned indicates that Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch in June, 2025. He pointed out that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is already available via Game Preview in March, and Descenders Next is set for release on April 9, 2025. While FBC: FIrebreak has yet to receive an official release date, the content creator believes it will see the light of day in May, 2025. This leaves us with Hollow Knight: Silksong, and if Microsoft has indeed spaced out all these releases by a month, the metroidvania game will launch in June, 2025. Only time will tell whether this is the case, however.
As always, we encourage our readers to take such rumors and speculation with a grain of salt until there is confirmation via official channels.
Back in January, 2025, William Pellen, co-creator of Hollow Knight and Silksong, had fans convinced that their long wait to learn more about Hollow Knight: Silksong will soon be over. He had changed his Twitter/X handle to “@everydruidwaswr”, updated his name to “little bomey,” and set his profile picture to an image of a certain chocolate cake. Later that day, he posted a cryptic tweet saying, “something big is coming. keep your eyes closed tomorrow.” There are reasons to suspect that this could be part of a larger ARG or a promotional campaign tied to Hollow Knight: Silksong.
