Insomniac Wolverine Reportedly in Final Stages as Venom Project Direction Remains Unclear

Fresh claims surrounding Insomniac Games suggest the studio is currently prioritizing Marvel’s Wolverine, while plans for a Venom project remain unsettled. The latest information comes from social media user That REDACTED Guy, and like most unverified reports, it should be treated with caution.

According to the post, “The majority of Insomniac is heads down polishing and getting Wolverine ready,” indicating that development on the upcoming title may be entering its final stages. The same source also pointed to activity involving the actor behind Peter Parker’s face model, stating that he is “apparently doing mocap for 2 Insomniac projects.”

The Venom project, which has been the subject of conflicting reports in recent weeks, is said to still be under internal discussion. The claim suggests that Insomniac has not finalized whether the title will release as a cross-gen game similar to Miles Morales or shift toward a PlayStation 6 release that would connect directly into Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. As described in the post, “Internally it’s still being decided whether Venom will be a cross gen title like Miles Morales, or if it should be a PS6 title that will lead into Spider-Man 3 which will be a PS6 exclusive.”

Earlier reports had raised questions about the status of a Venom game. Comments from actor Nadji Jeter suggested that both a Venom-focused DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and a standalone title had been canceled, allegedly due to the passing of actor Tony Todd. That claim was later disputed. Allfather Productions developer LordHuffnPuff said, “Unless it was canceled in the past two or so weeks… this runs contradictory to what was being discussed at GDC,” while Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier responded directly, stating, “This isn’t true.”

Insomniac Games and Sony have not provided any official update regarding a Venom project or the current status of Marvel’s Wolverine.
