Reports Indicate Marvel’s Venom May Still Be In Development Contrary To Miles Morales Actor’s Recent Statement

New reports indicate that Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games may still have Marvel’s Venom in development.

Allfather Productions developer LordHuffnPuff took to the gaming enthusiast Reset Era forums to comment on a recent statement from actor Nadji Jeter, who plays the role of Miles Morales in the Marvel’s Spider-Man game series. The latter mentioned during an interview on the Love it Film YouTube channel that a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC featuring Venom as well as a full game with the character in the lead were in development at Insomniac Games. However, according to him, both were canceled due to the passing of actor Tony Todd, who played the character in the recent Spider-Man title. In his comment, the Allfather Productions developer said that Jeter’s statement is contradictory to what Insomniac Games discussed at the recent Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2026.

“Unless it was canceled in the past two or so weeks… this runs contradictory to what was being discussed at GDC,” said LordHuffnPuff. Additionally, he pointed out that Todd had passed away well before GDC 2026.

Bloomberg’s investigative journalist Jason Schreier also took to the Reset Era forums to comment on the same statement from Jeter. “This isn’t true,” he said. While Schreier’s response doesn’t necessarily indicate that Marvel’s Venom is still in development, it does confirm that the game had not been canceled due to the passing of Todd.

During his interview, Jeter mentioned that Marvel’s Venom was set to offer an experience similar to that of the playable Venom segment seen in Spider-Man 2, but expanded into a full game. He added that he was shown early details of the project, including how the game would begin and its overall direction. According to him, Todd’s performance and presence were considered essential to the project by Insomniac Games.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC.
