Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, DC, and the LEGO Group have officially launched LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight in early access for Deluxe Edition owners on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Standard Edition will follow with a worldwide release on May 22.
Developed by TT Games, the studio behind LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and several previous LEGO adaptations, the new title is described as an original open-world action-adventure that draws inspiration from multiple eras of Batman across films, television, comics, and video games. The game combines those influences with the signature humor and style associated with LEGO titles.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight follows Bruce Wayne’s journey from his early training with the League of Shadows to his rise as Gotham City’s protector. Throughout the campaign, Batman teams up with allies including Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul to battle a large roster of villains such as The Joker, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Bane, Ra’s al Ghul, Firefly, and The Penguin.
TT Games has also introduced a new combat system built around Batman’s gadgets and melee abilities. Players can chain attacks together, use gadgets like Batarangs and the Batclaw, and take advantage of unique equipment tied to supporting characters. Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Catwoman, and others each feature their own tools and abilities designed to offer different approaches to combat encounters and boss fights.
The game’s version of Gotham City is presented as a large open-world environment spread across four interconnected islands. Players can glide across rooftops, use the Grapple Launcher to traverse buildings, or drive several Batmobiles and Batcycles while exploring locations including Arkham Asylum, Ace Chemicals, Wayne Tower, and Gotham Botanical Gardens.
Another major feature is the redesigned Batcave, which serves as the game’s central hub. According to the developer, the Batcave expands over time and includes customizable decorations, vehicle displays, gadget upgrades, collectible trophies, and over 100 character outfits inspired by Batman’s long history.
Players can tackle the adventure solo or through two-player local cooperative play. The game also includes additional difficulty settings, including a “Caped Crusader” mode and a harder “Dark Knight” difficulty option for players seeking a greater challenge.
The Deluxe Edition is priced at $89.99 and includes early access along with the Legacy Collection DLC. This pack adds suits, vehicles, and Batcave items inspired by Batman: Arkham, Batman Beyond, and a themed party music pack. TT Games also confirmed that a second DLC pack called the Mayhem Collection will arrive in September 2026, introducing playable versions of The Joker and Harley Quinn, a new story mission, additional cosmetics, Batcave items, and another Batmobile.
The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99, and players who pre-order either edition will receive The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit inspired by Frank Miller’s iconic comic series.
