Sony Interactive Entertainment’s next PlayStation State of Play presentation is set to happen during the second week of February, 2025, based on a new rumor.
On Twitter/X, known insider Nate the Hate was asked by a follower about the validity of his earlier claim regarding a PlayStation State of Play presentation happening in February, 2025. He reiterated that his information prior information is indeed accurate.
Nate was then asked whether the presentation will happen during early, mid or late February. He responded with a question, asking, “What does your heart tell you?“. This appears to be a hint that the next State of Play will take place either on Valentine’s Day, which is on Friday, February 14, 2025, or some other day during the same week. Sony Interactive Entertainment usually makes the announcement a few days ahead of the presentation, so fans should expect to see the official schedule in the beginning of next week.
As for what games will be featured on the upcoming State of Play presentation, Sony Interactive Entertainment may have new updates to share on a bunch of PlayStation first-party titles, including the likes of Ghost of Yotei, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Marathon. It may also feature games being developed in partnership with third-party studios, such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. There may also be brand new announcements from some first-party studios like Housemarque.
We likely won’t be hearing of any new projects from Bluepoint Games, Bend Studio, and Firesprite, as the had been working on live service games that have reportedly been canceled after the failure of Firewalk’Studios’ Concord. During a recent episode of Game Mess Decides, host Jeff Grubb, who is known for his connections within the game industry, pointed to the failure of Firewalk Studios’ Concord as the primary reason behind Sony Interactive Entertainment’s decision to cancel the aforementioned projects.
