NVIDIA DLSS 5 Gets Faster as New RTX Games Arrive

by Greg Martin

NVIDIA has announced a faster DLSS 5 AI model alongside a new Performance Mode for DLSS 4.5, with several games receiving updates and new RTX features throughout October. The latest developments include a performance boost for NBA 2K27, upcoming support for Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet, and new technologies arriving in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

The updated DLSS 5 model will debut in NBA 2K27 with its Season 2 update on October 16. NVIDIA says the new model can increase frame rates by up to 1.4x on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, RTX Spark laptops, and GeForce NOW. The company also states that the model is now 10 times faster overall than the version introduced in March.

DLSS 5 is also scheduled to arrive in NVIDIA’s RTX Remix modding platform on October 23, giving creators another tool for remastering classic games. Hogwarts Legacy will add support on November 5, while Where Winds Meet is expected to receive the technology later this year. RTX Spark laptops featuring the updated model are available to pre-order ahead of their October 16 release.

NVIDIA has also introduced a beta Performance Mode for DLSS 4.5 Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation through the NVIDIA app. The new option, labelled Preset C, replaces one of the two AI models used in frame generation with a faster, lighter algorithm. NVIDIA says this can deliver up to 35% higher performance on a GeForce RTX 5060, with minor trade-offs in image quality.

Players can access Preset C by opting into beta or experimental features in the NVIDIA app, selecting a supported game, and choosing the preset under the DLSS Override model settings.

Several games are also receiving new or expanded DLSS support. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access begins on October 16 for pre-order customers, with DLSS 4.5 features available at launch. The full release follows on October 23, bringing multiplayer and DMZ. GeForce RTX 50 Series users can enable Dynamic Multi Frame Generation with up to 6x frame multiplication, while NVIDIA Reflex is available across supported GeForce RTX systems to reduce PC latency.

Other October releases and updates include:

  • Among The Trolls launches on October 14 with DLSS Super Resolution and ray tracing.
  • Crossout Remastered receives its DLSS 4.5 update on October 22, alongside a DirectX 12 upgrade and improved visual effects.
  • Permafrost is available in Early Access with DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation.
  • Gear.Club Unlimited 3 is available on PC with DLSS Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and optional path tracing.
  • Pax Autocratica is available in Early Access with DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Multi Frame Generation.
  • ARC Raiders has received its free Frozen Trail update, adding the snowy Pendola Pass map, new enemies, quests, progression systems, and other content.

The ARC Raiders update also includes a limited PvE matchmaking test running until October 20, allowing players to choose cooperative matches against ARC enemies instead of the game’s usual PvPvE format. NVIDIA’s technologies, including DLSS, Reflex, and RTX Global Illumination, are supported across the game’s maps and modes.

With further DLSS integrations planned for the coming months, NVIDIA says more games and applications will continue to receive RTX enhancements and support for its latest rendering technologies.
