A new detail from Sega has fuelled speculation that Persona 6 could release before January 2028, with the publisher stating that physical copies of the game will only be available for the PlayStation 5 version.
The information comes from Sega’s official announcement for Persona 6, which states, “Only physical copies of the PlayStation 5 version are available.” The wording has drawn attention because of reports surrounding Sony’s plans to move away from physical game discs from 2028 onwards.
Based on that connection, some fans are now speculating that Persona 6 could arrive as early as September 2027. However, the timing remains unconfirmed, and Sega has not announced an official release date for the game.
The physical release detail itself is also not new, as it was included in Sega’s initial announcement. It has nevertheless resurfaced amid the recent discussion surrounding physical media and Sony’s reported plans for future PlayStation releases.
Persona 6 is the next mainline entry in Atlus’ acclaimed Persona series following Persona 5. Beyond the confirmed PlayStation 5 physical release detail, Atlus has yet to provide substantial information about the game’s release timing or its gameplay.
