Gameplay footage of an unannounced Persona remake has surfaced online, potentially offering an early look at Atlus’ plans for the series’ older entries. The video was shared on Reddit under the title “Persona: Be Your True Mind remake gameplay leak”.
The footage, titled Persona Remake, reportedly contains several references to characters from Persona 2. Tatsuya Suou, the protagonist of Persona 2: Innocent Sin, appears to be used as a stand-in for Masao. The protagonist is also referred to as “Boy with Earring”, a name associated with Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.
Unreal Engine debug text can also be seen in the top-left corner during battle sequences. The person who shared the footage included a link to the gameplay video. The project could potentially be a remake of the original Persona, although its identity remains unclear.
If genuine, the footage could point to another attempt by Sega and Atlus to revisit older entries in the franchise. Persona 4 is the most recent major example, rebuilding the original 2008 RPG in Unreal Engine with updated visuals, interface design and combat systems.
The Persona franchise began as a spin-off of Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei series. Its games combine supernatural conflicts with the everyday lives of high school students, who summon Personas representing aspects of their inner selves. The series has become known for mixing dungeon exploration with social simulation and relationship-building systems.
The leaked footage appears to come from an unfinished build, with the visible debug information suggesting development is still ongoing if the material is authentic. Neither the game’s title nor the scope of the alleged remake has been confirmed by Sega or Atlus.
