Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire could reportedly be coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, according to recent leaks surrounding ports of the Game Boy Advance titles. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have yet to officially announce the releases.
The original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire launched for Game Boy Advance in 2002 in Japan and in 2003 internationally. The games introduced the third generation of Pokémon and took players to the Hoenn region, while adding features such as double battles, Pokémon Abilities, Nature-based stats, Secret Bases and a dynamic weather system.
Speculation regarding ports of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire has intensified after a report from Pokesoku on X, which corroborated an earlier rumor from Shpeshal_Nick about these games coming to the Switch. Recent leaks have indicated that the Hoenn titles are being prepared for release, with October previously suggested as a potential launch window.
Nintendo has also shared high-definition, 60fps footage featuring gameplay from the original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, further contributing to speculation surrounding a modern release. However, the footage itself does not confirm that ports are currently in development or that an October launch is planned.
