Resident Evil 2 Remake has passed more than one million copies sold on Steam which places it ahead of Resident Evil 7. It is the fastest selling Resident Evil release so far on Steam.
When Resident Evil 2 launched, Capcom confirmed that they had shipped three million copies in its first week across all platforms. The game charted really well on Steam for the PC version and seems to have done well. Resident Evil 7 has shipped through six million copies but the PC version is still under one million according to the sales estimate on SteamSpy.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is selling at a much faster rate than Resident Evil 7, as evident with the sales of the game on PC. It has now surpassed more than one million copies on PC which also makes it achieve this feat faster than Resident Evil 7, which was released in January 2017 and still hasn’t cracked one million sales on PC.
The biggest launch for Capcom so far seems to be Monster Hunter World which is absolutely gigantic next to Resident Evil 2 Remake. It has sold through more than five million copies on PC alone as per the estimates of SteamSpy. These estimates are usually closer to the official figure so it is safe to say that Monster Hunter World and Resident Evil 2 Remake have both done really well on Steam.
Capcom is pleased with the state of their PC sales so far and the COO has expressed a desire to continue supporting the PC platform. “The percentage of sales for the PC versions of our titles has been increasing each year, and as such we will work to grow sales even more on this important platform, ” said the Capcom COO in a message to investors. They also had great success with Devil May Cry 5, which was their second best launch after Monster Hunter World on PC.
