Resident Evil 2 Has Shipped 3 Million Copies In Its First Week

Capcom announced via a press release that Resident Evil 2, a remake of the original game, has shipped 3 million copies in its debut week.

Resident Evil 2 launched on January 25th while the first week of sales counts just three days. Resident Evil 7 shipped 2.5 million copies in its first week if we have to compare the sales of this title to its predecessor. It also achieved this milestone while taking more days to launch since it debuted on a Tuesday, unlike Friday for Resident Evil 2.

This number is even more impressive if you consider that the original Resident Evil 2 sold 4.96 million units. The remake is already on pace to surpass that number sell even more than that since it has a great word of mouth and received a lot of positive praise from the critics.

The best selling Resident Evil game so far is Resident Evil 5 followed by Resident Evil 6. Both of these have shipped 7.4 and 7.2 million copies respectively. This doesn’t count the release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One so the overall number is even higher for both of them. The best selling game overall for Capcom is Monster Hunter World that has shipped more than 10 million copies worldwide.
