Rumor Claims Next Ghost Recon Game Is Set in Asia and Inspired by Ready or Not

New details regarding Ubisoft’s next Ghost Recon project may have surfaced online through industry insider RogueTX, who claims the upcoming title is taking heavy inspiration from tactical shooter Ready or Not.

Posting on X, RogueTX stated that the new Ghost Recon game is “set in asia definitely inspired by Ready or not with the squad features.” The insider also claimed that the project features a more minimal user interface than previous entries in the series.

According to the post, Ubisoft is reportedly pushing “more boundaries on stealth with the environment and realism,” suggesting a stronger focus on grounded tactical gameplay and immersive combat systems.

The comments came in response to questions about “Project Overlord,” a rumored codename previously linked to the next Ghost Recon title. Ubisoft has not officially announced the game or confirmed any of the reported details.

If accurate, the direction would represent another shift for the long-running tactical shooter franchise, potentially moving further toward hardcore military-simulation mechanics in response to player feedback on Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

The Ghost Recon series has historically centered on stealth, squad coordination, and tactical military operations involving the elite “Ghosts” special forces unit. While earlier entries focused on structured mission-based combat, later games evolved into large-scale open-world experiences.

The most recent mainline release, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, launched in 2019 and initially faced criticism for its live-service systems and gear-score mechanics. Ubisoft later introduced an Immersive Mode that removed many RPG-style elements and restored a more grounded tactical experience closer to earlier franchise entries.
