A newly released comparison video for Star Fox on Switch 2 is drawing attention to the scale of its visual overhaul, offering a side-by-side look at the remake and the original Star Fox 64.
The footage highlights how far the series has come, with the updated version featuring significantly improved character models, environments, and effects. The game was recently revealed in a surprise announcement and later confirmed to be a full remake of Star Fox 64, rebuilding the original experience with modern presentation.
Nintendo’s remake introduces more than just graphical improvements. It includes redesigned gameplay systems, new cutscenes, and additional content not present in the original release. Among the new additions is a prologue that explores the story of James, Fox McCloud’s father, expanding on the narrative background of the series.
The game also brings new modes, including Challenge Mode and online multiplayer for up to eight players. These features build on the series’ established aerial combat, which still includes familiar mechanics such as barrel rolls, boosts, and branching mission paths.
Previously revealed details confirm that the game will be priced at $49.99 for the digital version and $59.99 for the physical edition, with a file size of 14.8GB. The remake is scheduled to launch on June 25, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2.
With its updated visuals and expanded content, the comparison video offers a clearer picture of how the remake is modernizing a classic while retaining its core identity.
