According to the content creator’s sources, the “best-case scenario” had originally been a mid to late 2027 launch to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. However, the release window shifted toward 2028 to align with the 25th anniversary of the original Knights of the Old Republic. Despite the internal delay, he claimed that development has progressed smoothly and that the project remains focused on delivering a polished experience.

Recently, an alleged LinkedIn post attributed to Saber Interactive Chief Business Officer Steve Allison was shared online. According to the post, the Star Wars: KOTOR remake will “hopefully” see the light of day in 2028. The YouTuber speculated that the word “hopefully” in the message may have been misinterpreted, as he believes it could instead refer to Saber Interactive’s hope of self-publishing the remake, especially given that Sony Interactive Entertainment is no longer believed to be involved after originally publishing Aspyr’s version of the project. He noted that this aligns with what he has been told about the game’s positive development since Saber Interactive took over in 2023.
