Rumored StarCraft Shooter Is Reportedly “More Of A Single-Player Story Game” That Shares Similarities With Space Marine 2 & Far Cry

Blizzard Entertainment’s rumored StarCraft shooter is reportedly “more of a single-player story game” that shares similarities with the likes of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Far Cry.

During the latest episode of The Xbox Two podcast, co-host Jez Corden mentioned on “good authority” that the rumored StarCraft shooter is primarily a single-player story-focused experience. He also took to Twitter/X to respond to a recent discussion, in which Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier stated that he “wouldn’t count on this StarCraft game being a Destiny like.” Based on what Corden has seen, he described it as more adjacent to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Far Cry kinda adjacent, though he acknowledged that he doesn’t know for sure what the overall gameplay formula will be.

“What I saw was, you know, cutscenes, voice acting, photo realistic graphics, you know, the Blizzard stylized graphics,” Corden said. He added that the footage featured “high-end graphics” and third-person combat, with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 providing a useful point of comparison. He also pointed to the historical connection between the two the franchises, noting that StarCraft was previously conceived as a licensed Warhammer 40,000 game before Blizzard ultimately created its own universe.

Corden further mentioned that the unannounced StarCraft shooter appears to have a “fullblown single player and or co-op campaign,” while also speculating that Blizzard could include multiplayer content, potentially along the lines of a horde, siege or Helldivers-style mode.

Prior to BlizzCon 2026, the official StarCraft website started glitching, with the main page being covered in distortion effects, as if it is malfunctioning. This led to speculation that a new announcement may be happening soon. Since then, the StarCraft community dug for clues in the site’s back-end code, with Reddit user RaiausderDose managing to uncover some hidden messages. The site’s developer console contains a simulated Terran military data stream, including a sensor feed that reports motion where no occupants were registered. More details here.
