Reports Suggest Starfield Could Be Announced for PS5 As Early As Next Week

Microsoft and Bethesda Softworks’ action role-playing game, Starfield, may be getting announced for PS5 as early as next week, based on a new report.

According to Starfield insider Odah_SFA, next week will bring news in relation to the action role-playing game, but not the one that fans expect. The statement is quite vague and could mean a lot of things, but given how Microsoft is bringing some of its biggest franchises over to PS5, it’s likely that next week’s news entails a Starfield port for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s current-gen console.

During a recent interview with Destin Legarie, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer was asked if he could solidify that Starfield will stay put on as an Xbox console exclusive for the time being. Spencer responded by saying that there’s no specific game that he would put a ring around and say that it won’t go to a place where it would have players that would bring a business success for Microsoft. He further mentioned that allowing games to be available on multiple platforms will allow the company to driver a better business and invest in a great lineup of games. According to Spencer, keeping games from being available on other platforms is not a path that Microsoft will take.

In another interview with Danny Peña, Spencer said that he’s learned not only from within Microsoft’s portfolio of studios, but external development teams as well, that every creator out there wants to build a game that can find as many players as possible. He added that there aren’t many platforms out there that try to build connections to people on so many different screens. He highlighted the history of the business always being about a single platform, a single device, and a single game.

Going by Spencer’s statements, the release of Starfield on PS5 is inevitable. However, it remains to be seen whether the port gets announced next week.
