The Elder Scrolls VI Subtitle Has Possibly Been Uncovered

The subtitle for Xbox and Bethesda Game Studios’ upcoming action role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls VI, may have been uncovered.

In her Twitter/X post yesterday, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that the subtitle of The Elder Scrolls VI is an 8-letter word. This led fans to investigate possible candidates that fit this description, one of which, “Sentinel”, had already been rumored previously. However, it gained credibility when Michael Kirkbride, game writer, artist, and designer known for his work with Bethesda Game Studios on The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, gave his nod of approval for the subtitle.

Kirkbride took to Reddit to respond to a fellow member who guessed “Sentinel” as the 8-letter subtitle for The Elder Scrolls VI in their comment, briefly approving it with a “yes.” It’s been a while since he worked at Bethesda, and it’s possible he may not be up to date on the studio’s current plans. That said, there’s also a possibility he has some inside sources, and that his comment could genuinely have some basis in reality, given that he chose to respond to that specific comment in the first place.

The word “Sentinel” also corresponds to the employee number seen in Starfield’s character creation menu. As seen in the image below, when divided into pairs and converted to their corresponding alphabet, the seemingly random string of “190514-2998140512” turns into the word “SENTINEL.”

Originally different, the number was altered to this string sometime between Starfield’s first gameplay reveal and the final showcase in 2023. It ended up in the final game, suggesting that it’s likely a deliberate Easter egg of some sort.

While the evidence is certainly compelling, a subtitle for The Elder Scrolls VI is unlikely to be announced anytime soon, given that the game is likely more than 2 years away from release.
