Bethesda Game Studios upcoming action role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls VI, is reportedly at least 2 or more years away from release.
During a live Bloomberg Q&A (via IdleSloth84_ on Twitter/X) discussion on whether Microsoft is rethinking Xbox, Jason Schreier mentioned that The Elder Scrolls VI is at least 2 or more years away from release, meaning that fans will likely be able to get their hands on the game by mid-2028 at the earliest.
As of writing, very little is known about the next entry in The Elder Scrolls series. Last month, during an interview with Variety following this year’s Xbox Games Showcase, company executive vice president and chief content officer Matt Booty revealed that development on the upcoming action r0le-playing game is coming along well and that he has seen it in a playable state. “So I can tell you, having visited Bethesda and sat with Todd and seen [The Elder Scrolls VI] playing, it looks amazing, and it’s coming along well,” he said, “And we’ll make sure to announce it and really reveal it at the right time,”
Earlier in February, The Elder Scrolls VI producer Todd Howard talked about returning to the more traditional design philosophy of earlier Bethesda titles. “As we come back to Elder Scrolls VI, we are coming back to that kind of classic style that we have missed and that we know really, really well,” he said. He also confirmed that the upcoming title will run on Creation Engine 3, an evolution of the engine that powered Starfield. “We spent the last several years bringing Creation Engine 2, which powered Starfield, up to Creation Engine 3. That is going to power Elder Scrolls VI and beyond. We are really happy with the new rendering and world systems and how we bring detail close to the camera immediately.”
