Naughty Dog has officially confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 will get a full gameplay blowout and release date at the upcoming State of Play.
Sony has announced a brand new State of Play for September 24. Naughty Dog has been silent about their most anticipated sequel to The Last of Us for a long time now. The last time they had shown it was back during E3 2018 so it has been more than one and a half year of development. Now they appear to be ready to reveal the release date.
The Last of Us Part 2 release date has been rumored numerous times by now. First, it was hinted by the voice actress of Ellie, Ashley Johnson. Later, there was a leak from a Chinese retail source that mentioned multiple editions of the game. We already knew that the game would get a release date announcement before October and this is turning out to be the case.
On the official social media accounts of Naughty Dog, they have shared a small teaser confirming The Last of Us Part 2 for the September 24 State of Play event. Neil Druckmann meanwhile had picked a careful choice of words that hints that it is about time they announced a release date for it.
Sony has previously pulled the same marketing stunt with Death Stranding. It was shown in a live stream event that also confirmed the release date for the game. It appears that similar tactics can be used to announce a release date for The Last of Us Part 2.
