Bloodborne Is Reportedly Getting Remastered For PS5 and PC

Bloodborne is reportedly getting a remaster for PS5 and PC that should lead to the game running at a higher resolution and frame rate.

From Software worked on Bloodborne as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in collaboration with Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. It might be unheard of to see such an exclusive game coming to PC but after Sony confirmed Horizon Zero Dawn for PC and Death Stranding, there should be no doubt left about it.

Multiple insiders like this one are reporting that a Bloodborne Remaster is due to be announced soon. This remaster will target PS5 and PC and while details around it are shaky, it was supposed to be announced at the PS5 games reveal event scheduled for June 4th. The event was postponed by Sony to an unknown date.

Bloodborne used a new iteration of the From Software middleware engine that was then subsequently used for Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Both of these games are available to play on PC so the release of Bloodborne shouldn’t come across as a big surprise, however, it appears that Sony is now letting their old games come to PC, perhaps to capitalize on the additional revenue that can be gained from the PC platform.

From Software is currently working on Elden Ring so it is likely that they are not working on this remaster, instead, it can be outsourced to a third-party studio by Sony that can help port it for PS5 and PC. The game could support a higher resolution and frame rate on these platforms and avoid the limitations of the PS4 architecture where it runs at 1080p at 30 FPS. It was possible to run the game on a modded PS4 at 60 FPS but the performance remains unsatisfactory.
