Nioh 2 Will Offer Plenty of Blood and Gore As Detailed In ESRB Rating

ESRB has rated Nioh 2 for PS4. They have provided a detailed look at the rating of the game explaining the blood and gore and suggestive themes.

Nioh 2 is launching in March exclusively for the PS4. The game has received a couple of early beta tests ahead of its launch. While the first Nioh was later ported to the PC, the sequel is launching first on the PS4. There is no information on a potential PC port but that shouldn’t be ruled out just like the first game.

The game is quite close to launch by now so ESRB has naturally rated it ahead of the launch. They have provided a description of the mature themes included in it.

This is an action role-playing game in which players assume the role of a half-human, half-supernatural samurai that battles enemies during Sengoku-era Japan. From a third-person perspective, players use katanas, axes, spears, bows, and rifles to kill various enemies (e.g., humans, demons, boss creatures) in melee combat. Some battles are frenetic, highlighted by cries of pain and large blood-splatter effects. Human enemies can also be decapitated or dismembered during battlee. One weapon allows players to trigger a suicide event (i.e., stabbing themselves in the stomach). Cutscenes sometimes depict soldiers impaled by spears; one cutscene depicts the player stabbed by a spear from a first-person perspective. The game contains some suggestive material: a female serpent demon with partially exposed breasts; a woman/cat-like demon with deep cleavage.

The game has been rated M17+ by ESRB. The game will include Blood and Gore, Suggestive Themes, and Violence. It also has In-Game Purchases but the nature of them is not known for now.
