Resident Evil Village PS5 vs. Xbox Series Comparison: Identical Visuals But Different Performance

by Ali Haider

Resident Evil Village demo is out now for the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The game supports ray-tracing on both PS5 and Xbox Series.

Resident Evil Village demo is a solid indication of what to expect from the final game, and in this case, the good news is that on the visual side of things, the game is near identical as seen in a new technical analysis. There is hardly any difference in the resolution of other visual features with both the PS5 and Xbox Series X running the game at a checkerboard 4K resolution in the ray-tracing mode, which is enabled by default.

Both consoles will be able to play the majority of the game in 60 FPS, but the Series X has a little lead here in terms of performance. The PS5, meanwhile, has an edge in terms of load times which can end up making a lot of difference. It is almost 3 seconds faster than the Series X, especially during the demo.

Xbox Series S runs the game at 1440p resolution but has ray-tracing disabled by default. If enabled, the game struggles to hit 60 FPS and averages at 40 FPS. If you are not itching to sacrifice performance for a little bit of ray-tracing, it is better to keep it turned off.

The current demo will be playable for a week but you only have a limited time to play through it since it can end in just one hour. If you want to give the game a chance before it arrives on May 7, the demo is a good indication of what to expect and offers two sections of the game, one set in the Castle and the other set in the Village.

Resident Evil Village will be out on May 7, 2021, for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. The review embargo for the game is set almost two days earlier, and it has been reported to be longer than Resident Evil 7 and 2 Remake.
