Rumor: Next-Generation Consoles (PS5) To Launch In 2020, Aiming Higher Than 10.7 Teraflops

Recently, an alleged picture of the next-generation PS5 controller was shared online, however, it has turned out to be a well-made fake.

Next-generation of consoles including the PS5 is coming soon. It has been more than six years since the PS4 and Xbox One launched and while there was a middle-generation with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, it won’t stop the release or delay the upcoming generation.

PS5 rumors have been in the news for a while now and now fake leaks are started to make their way online. The first alleged image of a PS5 controller was making the rounds recently on social media. This controller looked real enough but the design was terrible. It didn’t offer much improvement over the DualShock 4 aside from adding a LED screen in place of the touchpad.

When it comes to rumors, it is hard to discredit anything coming from Jason Schreier, who is famous for showing his journalists skills over at Kotaku. In a thread on ResetERA when discussing the design of the PS5 rumor, Jason debunked the rumors of this being a real design sharing that he has heard from multiple sources how this is a fake image.

Jason also adds that both Sony and Microsoft are planning to release next-generation consoles in 2020. The only thing that he was able to confirm regarding their specs is that they will aim higher than the 10.7 Teraflops number that was shared by Google for their upcoming Stadia streaming platform.

Microsoft has been reportedly working on multiple hardware revisions for the next-generation of consoles. They are also launching a cheaper model of Xbox One later this year which will be entirely disc-less. Microsoft has made a great eco-system for their Xbox family of consoles with the Game Pass subscription service which instantly gives users access to more than 200 games.
