Black Myth: Wukong DLC Expansion Is Reportedly Set For Release In January 2025
The DLC expansion for Game Science’s action role-playing game, Black Myth: Wukong, is set for release in January, 2025, based on the latest report.
Publishing and gaming consultant Daniel Camilo took to Twitter/X to share that DLC for Black Myth: Wukong will be released somewhere around the time of the Chinese New Year, 2025, towards the end of January or very soon after. He mentioned that his information comes from very reliable first hand sources.
Furthermore, Camilo shared that Astro Bot has now sold over 20 million units. He predicted that the DLC will sell through less than 20% of the total user base because over 70% of the sales came from China, the novelty and national pride factor will be gone for Chinese consumers once the DLC is released, and the game is too challenging.
Camilo mentioned that at least a few millions of the people who bought Black Myth: Wukong in China are not core/hardcore players. For many of those individuals, the DLC simply won’t be an interesting proposition.
According to Camilo, the plans for Black Myth: Wukong DLC can always change. While development teams have internal plans and roadmaps, he admitted that nothing is hardly ever set in stone when it comes to release dates in the game industry.
Previously, insider Lunatic Ignus shared on their Discord server that Game Science aims to launch 2 DLC expansions for Black Myth: Wukong, before the release of its sequel, Black Myth: Jiang Ziya. A few days prior, their source had found audio files for Buddha and Jade Emperor, along with Nezha (who will have a more prominent appearance in the next game). The insider claimed that their information made sense, as Game Science originally wanted Black Myth: Wukong to have 13 chapters. However, the development team ultimately decided to work on only 6 chapters. According to Lunatic Ignus, the next DLC expansions could feature Bull King (either as a boss battle or in playable form), Jade Emperor, and Buddha.
