Cyberpunk 2077 Beats Elden Ring As Most Played Single-Player Game On Steam
Cyberpunk 2077 has overtaken Elden Ring as the most played single-player game in the top games by concurrent player count on Steam.
A quick look at the Steam concurrent player count charts reveals that CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 is now the most played single-player game on the platform, pushing ahead of From Software’s Elden Ring.
Other games above Elden Ring in the list include Path of Exile, Monster Hunter Rise, DayZ, PAYDAY 2, Hearts of Iron IV, and MIR. Cyberpunk 2077 currently has a comfortable 10k user lead over Elden Ring. The recently released Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Netflix series may have boosted interest in the game, especially since content from the show has been added to it in update 1.6.
The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners update will allow players to equip new items from the anime series. This includes the jacket that David Martinez, the lead character in the anime, wears and a shotgun that another character uses. Additionally, it will include new features like a new clothing transmog system for changing your appearance, cross-platform progression, playable Roach Race arcade cabinets, and more.
Action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 was developed and published by CD Projekt on PlayStation 4, Stadia, Windows, and Xbox One on 10 December, 2020, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 15 February 2022. The story is set in Night City, a fictional city based in the United States of America. Players assume the role of a mercenary named V who can fight in a number of ways, including options for melee and ranged combat. They can also use stealth and hacking to their advantage during combat and exploration.
More than 500 people worked on the game’s development using REDengine 4, which was used for the studio’s previous title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In order to help with the production, CD Projekt teamed up with Digital Scapes, Nvidia, QLOC, and Jali Research and established a new division in Wroclaw, Poland. Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the cyberpunk universe, served as a consultant, and Keanu Reeves plays the lead. Marcin Przybyowicz oversaw the composition of the original score, which also included the works of other authorized artists.
