Cyberpunk 2077 RT Overdrive Best Settings Guide For RTX 3080, 3090, 4070 Ti and 4080

Cyberpunk 2077 has received an RT Overdrive mode offering a path tracing option in the game so here are the best settings to use for RTX 30 and 40 series cards.

Although Nvidia lists the minimum requirements for RT Overdrive mode as RTX 3090 and RTX 4070 Ti, it’s possible to run the game on any GPU that supports ray tracing. However, this comes with a caveat: the performance may be far from ideal or even playable.

Best Settings for RT Overdrive Mode in Cyberpunk 2077

For those using an RTX 3080 or 3090, there’s some good news. You can enjoy the new path-tracing option to some extent, but you’ll need to make a few sacrifices.

Firstly, lower the resolution to 1440p. Since RTX 30 series cards don’t support frame generation, you’ll have to use DLSS 2.5.1. For the RTX 3090, stick with Quality mode, and for the RTX 3080, switch to Balanced mode.

These aren’t the only sacrifices necessary for acceptable performance. You’ll also need to reduce the visual quality from ultra to high to achieve decent performance. With these settings, you should attain a stable 30 FPS on RTX 30 series GPUs. Achieving 60 FPS with path tracing on an RTX 3080 may not be possible without sacrificing visual quality, which isn’t recommended. For the RTX 3090, try switching to Performance mode for DLSS, but even then, a stable 60 FPS may be difficult to achieve.

For the RTX 4070 Ti, it’s advised to lower the resolution to 1440p, but there’s no need to reduce the settings from Ultra to High. Using DLSS Balanced with Frame Generation at this resolution should provide a stable 60 FPS without significantly impacting visual quality, allowing you to enjoy all the features of Ultra quality.

As for RTX 4080 series GPUs, achieving 4K may be challenging as well. You can either stick with Ultra settings at 1440p, enable path tracing with frame generation, and use DLSS in Quality mode, or attempt 4K with Balanced or Performance DLSS quality, although this might compromise image quality.

These are the best settings to pick if you are trying to run Cyberpunk 2077 with the new RT Overdrive mode on mid-tier RTX 30 or 40 series GPUs.

In conclusion, while path tracing significantly enhances visuals, it still requires considerable tweaking and powerful hardware to fully unlock its potential.
