Disney and Digital Eclipse Announce Toy Story Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition

by Greg Martin

Disney and Digital Eclipse are bringing several classic Pixar games back to modern platforms this fall with the release of Toy Story: Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3: Complete Edition. Both collections are scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox consoles, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup serves as a retro collection celebrating some of the earliest video game adaptations based on Pixar films. The package includes Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (1999), Toy Story 2 for Game Boy Color, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000), Toy Story Racer (2001), and A Bug’s Life (1998). In total, the collection contains 11 different versions of these games spanning both console and handheld releases.

As with previous Digital Eclipse restoration projects, the collection includes a range of modern quality-of-life features. Players can use a Rewind function to instantly reverse mistakes, while Rex’s Cheat Codes allow access to options such as unlimited lives, invincibility, and unlocked content. Enhanced tutorials and practice modes have also been added to make the older titles more accessible for modern audiences.

Beyond the games themselves, Retro Roundup includes an extensive museum and documentary-style presentation featuring interviews with Pixar and Disney veterans. Participants include Pixar Head of Story Jason Katz, voice actor Jim Hanks, Disney & Pixar Games executive Luigi Priore, and TT Games founder Jon Burton. The collection also contains archival development materials, concept documents, photographs, and a music player featuring soundtracks from every included title.

Alongside the retro compilation, Toy Story 3: Complete Edition will bring the acclaimed 2010 movie tie-in back to current hardware. The updated release includes visual upgrades, improved resolution and frame rates, and all previously platform-exclusive content.

Players can once again experience the film’s story through Story Mode, which recreates key scenes from Toy Story 3 while allowing players to switch between Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie. Each character retains their unique abilities, and the campaign supports local two-player cooperative play.

The fan-favorite Toy Box Mode also returns, giving players access to the open-ended Wild West sandbox inspired by Woody’s Roundup. Players can complete missions, customize buildings, decorate the town, and shape the world however they choose. The Complete Edition additionally unlocks content that was previously exclusive to specific versions of the original game, including the ability to play as Emperor Zurg in Toy Box Mode and access four additional Theme Packs.

With both releases arriving on October 15, Disney and Digital Eclipse are giving longtime fans a chance to revisit some of Pixar’s most memorable gaming adaptations while introducing them to a new generation of players on modern platforms.
