Future Elden Ring Update/DLC May Add Arenas

by Muhammad Ali Bari

A future update or DLC for Namco and From Software’s Elden Ring is likely to unlock arenas in the base game, according to the latest information.

The recent update version 1.07 for Elden Ring has added 4 new parameters for 4 new text banners that are believed to be related to a future update or DLC that unlocks arenas in the base game. The parameters and text banners match unused text from version 1.0 of the game, as seen in the video below.

The strings of text and code suggest that arenas and two new legacy dungeons are planned to be added as part of future updates or DLCs. The base game contains 3 large coliseums that are currently inaccessible to players. These regions are likely planned to to function as arenas and places to interact with covenants and NPCs.

Other interesting behind-the-scenes additions to update version 1.07 for Elden Ring include signs of ray-tracing support arriving soon. Among the most prominent changes in the update are the balance changes made to the PvP, whereby Weapons, Skills, Spells, and Incantations will have separate damage scaling when playing against other players. Although it isn’t stated in the patch notes, Elden Ring update 1.07 also appears to have laid the foundation for future ray-tracing support, as it adds menu strings related to RT features.

Elden Ring is a 2022 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Hidetaka Miyazaki, who also served as the director, produced the game with the help of fantasy author George R. R. Martin, who developed its backstory and world building. It was released on February 25, 2022 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

From Software’s open world action role-playing game is played in the third person perspective and emphasizes combat and exploration. It has characteristics in common the studio’s previous titles, including the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro. Players can freely explore the six primary sections of the Lands Between, which are set in an open environment and contain places like castles, tunnels, and tombs. The main form of mobility for exploring these massive locations is the protagonist’s steed, Torrent. The demigods that control each region function as the game’s primary bosses.
