Xbox Game Studios and The Coalition’s next entry in the Gears series, Gears of War E-Day, is scheduled for release in the year 2026, based on a new rumor.
In a new video on his YouTube channel, known insider and content creator eXtas1s claimed that Gears of War E-Day is set for release in 2026, with a slim possibility of being pushed further to the year 2027. Fans had hoped for a launch this year, but it looks like development on the game is far from complete.

According to the insider”s sources, Gears of War E-Day is far from the possibility of being released in 2025. He pointed out that when the game was revealed during the 2024 Xbox Showcase, it wasn’t accompanied by a launch window, unlike Fable. While Fable ended up getting delayed to 2026, no such announcement would be needed for Gears of War E-Day, as it has yet to receive a release window.
Furthermore, the content creator claimed that a Gears Collection is currently scheduled for 2025, with a reveal set for The Xbox Showcase later this year in June, 2025. As per his sources, the compilation title will be released simultaneously for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Fans have been wanting a collection featuring the original Gears of War trilogy for quite some time. If true, the Gears Collection ought to keep them busy until The Coalition finishes work on the upcoming prequel.
In related news, during an interview in June, 2024, Cliff Bleszinski said that he’s pleased with the direction the series is headed in with Gears of War E-Day. He talked about how how JD and Dell and the whole cast of Gears 4 and Gears 5, while good, didn’t resonate with fans as much as the original Delta Squad. Bleszinski mentioned that Marcus returning alongside Baird was a good idea for Gears of War 4 and 5. However, according to him, killing Anya off was a mistake akin to the Alien 3 style of killing off major characters.
