Santa Monica Studio, the God of War Ragnarok developer, is currently working on multiple projects, including a possible new IP from Cory Barlog, which has been in development for several years.

Speaking to The Los Angeles Times, God of War Ragnarok producer Cory Barlog revealed that the studio is currently “spread out on a lot of different things,” and while he didn’t go into much detail, he has apparently been working on a new IP for “many” years.

Earlier, in response to a question regarding the time it usually takes the studio to go from conception phase to beginning to work on a game, Cory mentioned that his new project has taken many years. He mentioned previously that he was unable to give details on what he’s working on because the studio is heavily focused on finishing God of War Ragnarok. Now that the latter has been released, it’s possible that the director/producer will begin to share some information, or perhaps a teaser trailer will be shown at some point in the future.

Meanwhile, it looks like Eric Williams may continue to helm future projects in the God of War series. He certainly seems up for it, based on what he told The Los Angeles Times. “I remember talking to someone from another game company, where they were trying to get me to leave. They said, ‘Do you just want to be known as the “God of War” guy for the rest of your life?’ That was your big pitch to dissuade me? Because yes, I kind of do.”

Previously, we reported that God of War Ragnarok is the most nominated game at The Game Awards 2022. To be exact, the game has been nominated in a total of 10 categories, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, and Best Narrative.
