Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword does not appear to be facing a delay, according to comments from industry insider NateTheHate.

Responding to speculation surrounding the game’s release schedule, NateTheHate stated on social media that the project is “well on-track for this year.” The comment has led many fans to believe the long-awaited action title is still targeting its previously announced 2026 release window.

While Capcom has not provided a new official update on the game’s launch timing, NateTheHate is generally regarded as a reliable insider with a strong track record involving gaming industry reports and platform announcements.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the return of Capcom’s long-running samurai action franchise after roughly two decades without a new mainline entry. The upcoming title is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Set in a dark fantasy version of Edo-period Kyoto, the game follows legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi as he battles demonic Genma creatures spreading corruption across the city. Capcom has described the combat system as heavily focused on deliberate swordplay, directional parries, and soul absorption mechanics tied to a mystical gauntlet.

Since its reveal, Onimusha: Way of the Sword has become one of Capcom’s more closely watched upcoming projects, particularly among longtime fans of the original PlayStation 2-era series.
