A screenshot from Sega’s upcoming fighting game, Virtua Fighter, has leaked online, hinting at some new gameplay features.
The leaked Virtua Fighter screenshot shows an early look at its gameplay. Based on the image, the game appears to have a minimalist HUD. There is a new meter below the character health bar that is likely to be a stamina gauge of some sort that depletes the more frequently a character performs special moves. Additionally, an NPC is also seen in the stage background. The game’s visuals seem to lean heavily towards a more realistic art style. The character models featured in the recent VF Direct 2024 gave a similar impression.

Beside working on the Virtual Fighter reboot, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are also bringing Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O to Steam. The game is set to hit the digital storefront on January 27, 2025. It takes the gameplay of Virtua Fighter 5 and raises it to new levels by featuring rollback netcode support, 4K visuals and additional content to make it the best version of the title. Players can battle through classic Virtua Fighter modes like Arcade, Rank Match, create their own custom online tournaments and leagues with up to 16 players, learn from the best in Spectator mode, or hit the Training or Versus modes. The game features a total of 19 playable characters, each having a unique fighting style and distinct customization options.
The new Virtual Fighter isn’t the only classic Sega title that’s getting the reboot treatment. Read about it here.
