Legacy of Kain series might be all set to make a comeback in the form of a remastered version of Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 and 2.
This rumor comes ahead of the San Diego Comic-Con where the branding for a remastered version of Legacy of Kain 1 and 2 was spotted. Pictures showing the branding have been posted on social media (via).
Another picture shows a figure depicting a popular scene from the game.
Given that this branding is new and doesn’t appear to be a fake at all, an announcement is likely imminent.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver has achieved a cult classic status among the fans since it launched on the PS1, followed by a sequel that was released for the PS2. The game is officially available on PC but these ports are quite old and difficult to run on modern hardware without tweaks or fan-made fixes.
Given that the series is quite popular with its cult status, it is not surprising that it is being remastered. An official announcement hasn’t been made yet, but it should be close enough since this is officially beginning to be displayed at San Diego Comic-Con.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was originally developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos Montreal who were under Square Enix. The IP no longer belongs to them but it was transferred over to the Embracer Group who also own Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics. There is a good chance the series might face a revival under them.
