Insomniac Games has shared a detailed look at the accessibility features that will be available in Marvel’s Wolverine, outlining a broad range of options designed to help players customize the experience to their individual needs. The studio said accessibility remains a major focus and confirmed that the game will launch with an extensive collection of both new and returning features. Some additional options will be added through a launch update for physical disc owners.
Among the gameplay-focused settings are customizable challenge options that allow players to adjust enemy health, enemy damage, stealth detection speed, and dodge or parry timing windows. New additions include expanded lock-on controls, navigation assistance with customizable trail colors, traversal assistance that can simplify movement, combat-specific game speed adjustments, and multiple sprint control methods. Players will also be able to automate certain quick-time events, alter button input behavior, skip puzzles, and access a list of recently modified settings. A cinematic replay option is also planned as part of a launch update.
The game’s motion sensitivity settings provide extensive control over visual effects and camera behavior. Players can disable or adjust motion blur, film grain, chromatic aberration, depth of field, camera shake, and camera rotation effects. Additional options include customizable camera follow settings, combat camera assistance, and a center-screen focal dot with adjustable size, color, and opacity.
Visual accessibility has also received significant attention. Marvel’s Wolverine will include adjustable text sizes, larger icons and prompts, HUD icon visibility controls, and extensive color customization options for gameplay indicators. Players can modify the colors used for Wolverine’s senses, enemy threat effects, dodge warnings, and parry indicators. Health bar visibility for both bosses and the main character can also be adjusted.
Audio accessibility options cover a wide range of features, including mono audio, dialogue enhancement, screen reader support, and frequency filtering tools. The screen reader will support multiple languages and offer controls for reading speed, verbosity, and repetition behavior. New accessibility audio cues, heartbeat indicators for enemy awareness, and an audio and vibration glossary are also included. Audio descriptions for cinematics will be introduced through a launch update and will support several languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese.
High contrast functionality returns with several enhancements. Players can apply outlines to friendly and enemy characters, adjust outline brightness and thickness, and use dedicated shaders to improve the visibility of allies, enemies, collectibles, interactive objects, and story-critical items. The game also offers a customizable high contrast background system and shader opacity controls to improve overall visual clarity.
One of the more notable additions is a new violence customization category. Players can choose from different presets that affect blood effects, dismemberment, and Wolverine’s visible healing animations. Individual settings allow these elements to be reduced or disabled, offering more flexibility over how graphic the game appears during both gameplay and cinematics.
Subtitle and caption options have likewise been expanded. Players can customize text size, colors, background opacity, speaker colors, and directional indicators that show where dialogue or sounds originate. Music captions can also be assigned a separate color for easier identification.
Controller customization rounds out the accessibility suite, with full button remapping, shortcut assignments, adaptive trigger controls, vibration adjustments, and support for accessibility-related quick actions. Players can configure shortcuts for features such as screen reader status, contrast toggles, game speed adjustments, collectible tracking, and combat techniques. Additional options allow for separate vibration settings during cinematics and gameplay.
According to Insomniac Games, these features will be available at launch either on disc or through the game’s first update, giving players a wide range of tools to tailor Marvel’s Wolverine to their preferences and accessibility needs.
