With Monster Hunter Wilds set to release on February 28, 2025, Capcom has shared a range of new details at a recent showcase. Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto took the stage to reveal a chilling new trailer, PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements, and the return of the Open Beta Test, giving fans a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come.
The highlight of the showcase was the “Into the Iceshard Cliffs” trailer, which introduced a frostbitten new region teeming with danger. The Iceshard Cliffs, a snowcapped and rocky expanse, is home to Hirabami, a never-before-seen Leviathan monster. These serpentine creatures use sail-like membranes to glide through the air, striking prey with their razor-sharp tails. The trailer also confirmed the return of fan-favorite monsters Nerscylla and Gore Magala, adding to the game’s already impressive roster.
Capcom announced a second Open Beta Test, running in two sessions:
- Session 1: February 6 at 7:00 PM PST to February 9 at 6:59 PM PST
- Session 2: February 13 at 7:00 PM PST to February 16 at 6:59 PM PST
Players will have the chance to hunt Arkveld, the game’s flagship monster known as the “White Wraith,” alongside returning monster Gypceros. The beta also introduces the Base Camp’s Training Area, Private Lobbies, and Online Single Player mode. While the beta includes character creation with transferable data, story missions, and free-roaming hunts, it won’t feature the latest performance and balance adjustments, which are being saved for the full release.
Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with PlayStation 5 Pro support, leveraging advanced technologies like ray tracing and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to deliver stunning visuals. These enhancements promise a more immersive experience for players on Sony’s upgraded console.
PC players aren’t left out, either. Capcom has released a Monster Hunter Wilds Benchmark tool on Steam, allowing users to test their system’s performance ahead of the game’s launch.
The game is now available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Capcom has also teased limited-time event quests starting one week after launch, offering special armor as rewards. Additional post-launch updates are planned, though details remain under wraps.
Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.
